Samui Finals
Last weekend I headed to Samui to play the yearly final of the SPT – Samui Padel Tour. It was a great test and a perfect warm-up going into the busy weeks ahead.
In the quarterfinal we started strong. The first set was very solid from our side and we took it 6–2, playing controlled padel and sticking to our game plan. In the second set, however, the match shifted. We got caught in a real lob frenzy, and once again it became clear how effective that tactic can be when executed well. The match went to a tiebreak, and this time it slipped away from us.
Of course, it’s never fun to lose a tight match like that, but there’s a lot to take away from it. Every match like this adds experience, and one thing is very clear: next time, I’ll be much better prepared to handle the heavy lobbing game.
I played together with Eles, which made this trip even more valuable, as it was a warm-up for the coming PPS weekend. We’re sticking with the same partnership, and this time we’re entering the event as top seeds, having collected the most ranking points as a team over the last 10 PPS events. That gives us confidence, but also motivation to keep improving and sharpening the details.
Looking forward to the next challenge.
